Fast shallow water suitable for wading. A popular swim to fly-fish for Sea Trout, Dace, and Chub.
MILLSTREAM
A side stream of the main river. Provides good fishing during high water and in the Winter. The entrance to the stream is popular for Pike.
HOUSE POOL
A long deep pool that sweeps down from the footbridge. Good trotting water with the main current on the near bank. Suitable for disabled anglers, being next to the main car park.
BOATHOUSE
A classic Avon pool, which has a small fast neck at low tide and in low water conditions. The pool deepens as it sweeps around the bend towards the footbridge, where the average depth along the piles is 10ft.
DICKS HOLE (Pallet Swim)
A fast very deep pool that starts to shallow towards the neck of the Boathouse and the shallows, which dry out at low tide during average summer levels.
THE POINT
A fast swim at the bottom of the area known as the Paddock, which starts to slow and deepen as the river is pushed towards the Piles on the opposite bank. The swim starts to shallow on the angler's side before reaching Dicks Hole.
MUGS HOLE
A deep hole close to the bank in the Paddock. There are good gravel runs between the weed towards mid stream.
GATE SWIM
The first swim in the Paddock, which has a strong current flowing from the Railway and very deep hole close to the bank. Good gravel runs extend down stream to Mugs Hole.
FIDDLERS WEST
Fast flowing and quite shallow during low water conditions. The swim has a good weed growth, which is cut during the Summer months to produce long glides.
RAILWAY (West Bank)
Good flows and conditions in all water heights. There is room for three to four anglers up-stream of the bridge and one from the point down-stream. The Railway pool offers a variety of depths and glides.
FOXES
A good steady flow from Greenbanks to the Railway. Deep water close to the bank, which needs to be fished from the top of the bank during normal water conditions. The swim can be waded with care in low water.
GREENBANKS
Deep water on the angler’s side with good gravel runs and deeper holes towards mid stream, which continue towards Foxes and the Railway.
PIPES (West Bank)
Fast flowing due to the water from the Parlour and the main river. Deep on the angler’s side with very good gravel runs and holes mid stream.
THE STUMPS
Good trotting water with an even depth. Gravel runs midstream, which continue towards and under the Pipes.
WATERS MEET (West Bank)
A slower and shallow swim on the angler’s side. The opposite bank is not fished and provides a sanctuary for the Carp under the overhanging trees.
THE LITTLE WEIR
An overflow weir that fishes well all year round, but particularly good during high water conditions in the back stream for Pike.
THE CINDER PATH
The area between the Great Weir and Parlour Hatches. A good even depth, which fishes well for Roach and Dace during the Winter.
